Week of November 15th

Language Arts:  This week we will be reading stories that focus on how offspring are like their parents. The reading selections for this week are Eagles and Eaglets and Baby Bears.  Both stores are non-fiction and students will be learning how to reread in order to help them identify the main topic and key details.

Math:  We will be wrapping up Topic 5 this week.  Students will be taking the math assessment on Thursday, so look for the Topic 5 Assessment Review, which will be coming home on Monday.  We will be starting Topic 6, Fluently Subtract within 100 on Friday.  Please continue to work on addition and subtraction facts with your child at home.

Science: We will be finishing up our Habitat Unit in Science.  Students have picked an animal to reseach for their animal report and will be working on completing the written part of their habitat project this week. The project is due due December 1st. This project consists of three parts; a written (done at school), a visual (done at home), and a presentation (done at school).

Visual: This part of the project will require your child to be creative!  They must create a 3-dimensional animal at home.  Your child may use their choice of materials to create their animal model, such as Paper Mache, fabric, etc.
