Week of April 25th

Language Arts:  This week we will be reading stories that focus on what heroes do. The reading selections for this week are Cesar Chaves and Brave Bessie.  Both reading selections are biographies and this week and will continue to work summarizing a story and sequencing.

Math: We started Topic 10, Add Within 1,000 Using Models and Strategies, this week. Students will be adding and subtracting within 1,000. Throughout this topic we will be reviewing the addition and subtraction strategies that we have learned this year.

Social Studies:  We will continue learning about economics in Social Studies. This week we will be discussing the difference between goods and services and the talking about needs and wants.
I have sent home the final project for this year, before break. Your child must create a product of their own (one that is not currently on the market today) and share it with their peers in a "commercial" format. The product can be a model for demonstration or in a poster form. Your child will need to have a typed or neatly written copy of their sales pitch. The following information must be included: name of product, description of the purpose of the product, why consumers should buy the product, price of product, a selling technique (buy one/get one free), where to purchase the product, and a jingle or catchy saying.
